What “green” means
Green cleaning is a general term that usually refers to the use of cleaning products that minimize negative health effects in people and pets, and minimize negative effects on the outdoor or global environment. It can also refer to the use of products like paper towel that are made from recycled material.
ECOLOGO certification means that the product has been stringently tested by a third-party to comply with environmental performance standards. There are also biotechnology products that contain microorganisms or bio surfactants, designed for specific purposes. These products are recognized for their cleaning efficiency and ability to digest organic and petroleum-based substances that otherwise contaminate our sewers and rivers.
Our green choices
Our green cleaning solutions are sourced from two highly respected manufacturers: Wood Wyant and Diversey.
For general cleaning, Wood Wyant’s Vert-2-Go line of products are excellent. These include an all-purpose cleaner for floors and desktops, a washroom cleaner that sanitizes, and a glass cleaner.
For health care facilities, Diversey has a range of products for general use, and to combat specific pathogens.
In addition to these cleaning formulas, we also choose paper products that are made of 100% recycled fibre and over 50% post-consumer content. This helps reduce the overall impact that we have on the environment, as hand towel and toilet paper are some of the most used janitorial products. Also, we ensure that our electrical equipment is in the top 20% of energy efficiency in its class.
Unscented products
Not all green cleaning products are unscented. Many use natural ingredients like citrus that clean and deodorize. If you do require unscented products, please let us know, as we do have these available as well.
